In April 2009, The Epsilon Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity will mark the 100-year anniversary of its founding on the WPI campus. As part of the recognition of this important milestone, the alumni of Epsilon Chapter have established a scholarship to be awarded to WPI Freshmen in recognition of outstanding service to their home communities prior to entering WPI. In the initial year of the scholarship program, two awards will be made in the amount of $1,000 each. Applications for the awards will be accepted from incoming WPI Freshmen up to Friday September 26, and awards will be announced at the end of A-term.
Applicants for 2008 scholarship awards must be men entering WPI as full-time freshmen in the Fall of 2008. There are no restrictions as to an applicant’s country, city or town of residence.
Applications will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee, comprising alumni members of Epsilon Chapter of Theta Chi. The committee will review and evaluate every application that is submitted by the deadline. The committee members may consult with the candidate’s supplied reference in the course of determining the eligibility of each candidate.
The Scholarship Committee will award the scholarship to two candidates in the amount of $1,000 per award. Successful candidates will be sent notification by WPI campus e-mail no later than October 16, 2008, with simultaneous written notification to the parents of each recipient. Scholarship payment will be made by check directly to the recipient, and the scholarship awards will be announced at the completion of A-term.
